Finding images on a morning walk

Most mornings I take a walk around the neighborhood, often along the Meguro River, before most people are out of bed. Almost without exception I take a camera along with me. It is the time of the day when the light is just right. No harsh shadows or bright sunlight. The colors are very even. However, I never set out with a subject in mind. It is whatever I happen to encounter that stimulates me to capture an image.

Today was a pleasant walk, especially because it is the start of a five-day holiday in Japan. I encountered several stray cats who took a cautious interest in me. I passed stores and restaurants and parks and gardens. But nothing caught my eye. It was just one of those days when the image didn't find me.

Almost home, I took one and only one image of the school yard near our place.
