June in Maui

I am enjoying a relaxing and quiet week in Maui. Great weather, nice scenery and almost zero work interference. What I do not get used to though is the prices at the supermarkets. Sure, I understand almost everything needs to be trucked in from elsewhere but that is probably true in Portland, Santa Fe and Little Rock. I sense there is a "Maui Tax" applied to everything so that the final bill is a little shocking.

I think it is impossible to leave Safeway paying anything less than $100. Buy a pack of gum and the register automatically rounds the purchase up to $100.
