It has been a long and hot summer in Tokyo, as expected. As for today, the forecasted high was just 29C, the lowest in more than a month. Suffering from cabin fever, I decided to make a trek via train to a yet undiscovered spot in the greater Tokyo area. I heard about the quality of life and greenery in Inagi so off I went by train.

It was a humid morning but cooler than recent days and some rain. I had no specific plan nor any maps of the area. I explored the area around the station and found it to be a quiet and typically residential area. Probably morever, I enjoyed the journey as much as the destination.

Inagi as a municipality was founded on April 1, 1889 as Inagi Village in what was then the Minamitama District from the merger of 6 pre-Meiji period villages. On April 1, 1957, Inagi Village was reclassified as Inagi Town. On November 1, 1971, Inagi Town was reclassified as Inagi City, dissolving Minamitama District. Inagi with Tama was the last town within the former Minamitama District.
