Shibuya Station- Transformation Underway

Shibuya Station in Tokyo is the closest major transportation hub to our home, about ten minutes on foot. The station includes JR lines, several subway lines, links to Narita and both city bus routes to the east and Tokyu buses westbound. Historically Tokyu has operated their department store within the station.

But several years ago a development project to span almost 20 years was started with a completion date of 2027. The underground subway station has been expanded and prepped for the new developments. One new tower has been completed (Hikarie) and most of the department store demolished. Additional office towers and mixed-use residential/commerical buildings will be constructed.
