It is two weeks since we arrived in Vancouver and we are started to feel more settled here although lots of ups and downs. We got off to a rocky start with the vet on Tuesday. What was supposed to be a short visit and check-up for Spago turned into a two-hour visit and a barrage of procedures. The vet insisted on cleaning inside his ears and recommended a teeth cleaning session (not going to happen). Yoshiko was becoming increasingly agitated by the aggressiveness of the vet (same clinic but not the same vet I met with and briefed in July).

The vet prescribed some medication but sent us to the wrong pharmacy to pick it up. Yoshiko, "Grrrr....". Then this afternoon the regular vet called me to announce they had sold the clinic and today was their last day. I made a late afternoon dash to the clinic to met and brief the new owner/vet. You can't make up this kind of stuff.

Earlier in the week we picked up a translation of Yoshiko's Japanese driver's license and took it to ICBC to convert it to a BC license. I was impressed with the level of service at the Point Grey branch when I did my license in November. Consistently good this time and Yoshiko only needed a vision test and to answer three questions for all new drivers to BC. The staff doing the examination was patient and prompted her well with clues to the answers. I think it will be a while before Yoshiko is driving here on her own. Baby steps.

The condo is coming together slowly and I am enjoying allowing Yoshiko to provide input and influence. We will eventually need more space and the condo shows its limitations but sufficient for our needs now. Our main objective is to ensure Spago is comfortable and has proper care. Everything else will fall into line in due time.
