Lemon instead an Apple

I recently ordered an iMac online and patiently waited for its arrival, tracking its progress along the way. It was finally delivered this afternoon. The unpacking process was simple and, after carefully positioning it on my home office desk, I plugged it in and pressed the power button.
I heard the classic start up chime. I heard the internal fan start working. But nothing on the screen. I restarted it several times and allowed it roughly ten minutes each time to show me something, anything. Nothing.
I called Apple and they had few tricks to suggest, instead recommending they arrange to have the unit replaced with another one. All in all, a very capable group of people at Apple in terms of empathy and service recovery. They offered me several products as an apology and I finally accepted a pair of Beats headphones.
The new unit is on its way.
