Enjoying public transportation

Until recently I have been relying on rental cars in Vancouver to get around. Convenient but hardly practical. Starting from September 1, I decided to give Vancouver's public transportation a try and purchased a monthly pass.
The Translink website and app are very functional to plan trips and the service works very well. I think the years of using Tokyo's subways, trains and buses have served me well. This experiment is also helping me to understand the layout of the city as well. So far, so good.
I heard about riders on buses in Vancouver saying, "thank you" to the drivers upon leaving the bus. It is true and now I find myself saying it as well.
