The furniture shopping begins...

We are less than a month away from the move to our new condo. We purposely minimized our furniture shopping while in our temporary rental condo since we didn't know when and where we would ended buying in this crazy real estate market.

Our new condo was fully furnished and the seller was living outside the country. We hoped to reach an agreement with the seller to buy the remaining furnishings, which were usable and lightly used. Still, it was used furniture. Alas, we were unable (as of the writing of this blog) to secure any of the furnishings and we assume the place will be empty when we move in.

This week we started the process of visiting furniture stores to look at some basics. We decided to start with a dining room table and perhaps a sofa/chairs. In the end we spent most of our times at Moe's where I bought a bedroom suite last summer (soon to be in our guest bedroom). We found some interesting pieces including an Italian-designed and manufactured mable top and walnut table. Yoshiko's face said YES all over it.

We spent about an hour trying different chairs and combinations at the table. The final decision was for four black leather/walnut chair for the length of the table and two complementary black leather arm chairs for the ends.

Delivery will be after our move. Need to find a rug to put under the table before the delivery since we were told it is a very heavy table.

I think we will wait until we are in the new condo before we buy any more furnishings.
