Our new home in Vancouver
Contractually we were scheduled to receive the keys to our new condo yesterday (Thursday) but the confirmation of property transfer from our lawyer did not come until almost 5 PM. So we decided with our realtor to postpone everything until this morning when we could do it in daylight.
We had some initial concerns the seller would leave behind some furnishings but the property was completely empty and only picture hangers and some wires protruding from the walls. It is indeed a blank canvas for us to start from. A barren condo shows all of the areas needed for repairs, upgrades and improvements. We have a lot of work yet to be done to make it our own place.
For now we need to focus on getting everything from our rental condo to the new one during the next couple of days. We are fortunate to have until the end of the month to make the relocation, in addition to the convenience of the two condos being only five minutes apart. Other than a new dining table, chairs and a rug coming on Tuesday, we need to get busy with finding new furniture. And shipping some items from our Tokyo condo this spring.
We both immediately felt like this was home the first time we viewed the condo back in November. Now we are here and yes, this is going to be our home for a long time.
