Furniture Shopping (again)
We made the rounds to several furniture stores today with the goal of finding some living room furniture that would be available for delivery in a reasonable timeframe. Many stores told us earlier that delivery would be anywhere from four to twenty weeks. I joked with one salesperson we should have moved to Italy so we wouldn't have to wait for new furniture. From one store to another the story was the same. Right color, wrong size. Right size, too expensive. Right price, not in stock. Finally we decided to make one last stop at a store where we bought a pillow for Yoshiko last week and the service was unexpectedly good.
The salesperson remembered us and I described what we were looking for. He showed us several options, shared some ideas and gave us space while we discussed it. Finally I asked him to give us a quote on a couple of pieces and check availability. Without hesitation he said, "I already checked for you. Everything is available at the warehouse and I confirmed with our moving company they can delivery it next Thursday. And here is a print out of the costs, including a 15% discount."
He had remembered our names and had our address on the receipt. Very impressive service.
