Packing in Tokyo
I arrived back in Vancouver today after spending a week in Tokyo. The purpose of the trip was simple. Finish organizing our household goods at the Tokyo condo in preparation for the movers to ship everything to Vancouver. I also had some miscellaneous tasks such as cancelling credit cards and closing my bank accounts.
I sure wished I had done more of these things before we left Tokyo last summer but there simply wasn't time. Also, we needed a safety net in case Yoshiko didn't enjoy life in Canada. What a difference eight months has made. We have settled in nicely to Vancouver, bought a home and enjoying the life here.
It was an interesting experience to return to Tokyo after being away for the better part of a year. Everything was so familiar that I settled in quickly and thought perhaps Vancouver was just a dream. But our condo was quiet without Yoshiko and the cats. A shell of what was full of memories, sounds and experiences. I realized we had truly moved on from Tokyo. A great place and an important chapter in my life.
