Spring comes when in Vancouver?

This year is only our second spring in Vancouver. 2016 was an unusually early and warm spring while 2017 was a record cold and wet winter. Maybe I can be excused from jumping in spring a little early this year.

By the third week of March it seemed as though the snow was finally over and the daytime temperatures were consistently above 7ºC. I called the car dealer and booked an appointment to have our summer tires installed and the winter ones put in storage. On the day of the appointment, the Service Manager asked if I was sure, "it isn't too early to change your tires". Apparently I was about a month or more early than most customers. Oh, well... I guess I beat the rush.

Today I stopped by the local garden store to look for bedding plants for our patio. This was after several weeks of procrastination. The owner of the store gave me some recommendations but suggested I come back in "about two weeks" when he would have a larger selection. He also warned the night time temperatures are still quite chilly.

Okay. I've got it. Spring comes to Vancouver in May.
