Mahonia
Last Friday I received a call and voice mail from a local nursery where I shop for plants for our garden. The message said that the plant I ordered, "Mahonia Wintersun Charity" had arrived and I should drop by to pick it up.
I couldn't remember ordering a plant and the name didn't mean anything to me. I wasn't able to get over to the nursery until today but had some time to think about it. I had deleted the voice mail and when I arrived I couldn't remember the name of the plants. Now the staff and I were equally confused since they had no record of any order.
Then I said I might have asked about plants that hummingbirds enjoy since I was exploring the subject last year. The owner of the shop immediately said, "Mahonia! It is the first time in more than three years we got any of these plants." I was afraid it was going be a costly investment after that statement but was only $25.
Short story. We now have a Mahonia plant on our patio. Now comes the learning curve.
