Giving up on an EV... for now
For several months I have been considering, researching and preparing to purchase an electric vehicle. Our Mercedes AMG is a spectacular car for performance but not always practical for jaunts around the city. I wanted something more practical and moreover... I wanted to be an early adopter of EV's for the experience.
Earlier this year I was able to test drive the Chevrolet Bolt EV and was suitably impressed with its space, size and performance. I was less so impressed when the dealership staff estimated the delivery time to be nine months.
I am not prepared to wait at the end of the line for a Tesla 3. Nor a Nissan Leaf (terrible design company). Everything else is just an ICE with a battery pack.
I revisited the availability question again this week with a couple of Chevy dealers and the situation has not improved. I have decided to wait until EV's are more commonplace and easier to acquire.
