Pursuing post-secondary education
I am proud of my career achievements and acknowledge they were a result of hard work, passion and discipline. And some good luck. But there is still one area I feel is lacking and it has followed me for years. I didn't get a post-secondary education. The reasons are not important.
I know it is completely backwards from tradition but my dream is to get a degree.
Today I took a big step forward and met with a wonderfully insightful person at UBC's Sauder School of Business. I thought I would be given a list of reasons why someone at my age would not have a chance at acceptance. Instead, she was open, supportive, honest and encouraging.
The path to acceptance will not be easy nor guaranteed. I will need to demonstrate my commitment by pursuing and completing transfer courses in order to make the requirements for business school courses.
Back in 2013 I joked on Facebook, "Today marks the 13,080th consecutive day without using algebra." It looks like the joke is on me. Back to school for me.
