My baby is back
After a week in the hands of the Mercedes dealer here, our AMG is back home. And after a week of driving a loaner car, a CLA that did 0-60 in 15 minutes, I was very happy to get our rocket back.
I had complained repeatedly over the past two years about the squeaky brakes and an infotainment systems that occasionally crashed. I wasn't getting anywhere with the dealership so I wrote to the president of MB in Canada. The next thing I know I am getting calls and emails from the service department here in Vancouver.
We took the car to the dealer a week ago and endured an hour-long meeting with the head mechanic, a service rep and the service manager. I learned a lot during that meeting about the "care and feeding" of an AMG. It is not a C-Class with a larger engine. It is a race car in a C-Class body. It needs lots of exercise and to be pushed to its limits. Read: this is not a daily driver around the city. I am going to schedule a weekly outing on the highway from now on.
They replaced all of the brake pads and installed a new computer in the car.
I was impressed with the care and attention given to us and the car in this situation. It shouldn't have been necessary to go "over their heads" but I am initially much more satisfied. Furthermore, I now have a better understanding of the car, something I think should have been explained pre and post-purchase.
