Trip to Vancouver Island
We arrived home from Vancouver Island this afternoon following a three-day, two-night visit to celebrate Yoshiko's birthday. It was also a notable journey as it marked our first regional trip together since moving to Vancouver. I wanted Yoshiko to experience the ferry ride and to see Vancouver Island.
The trip started out from Tsawwassen, south of Vancouver, where we boarded the ferry and sailed to Swartz Bay outside of Victoria. We stayed in Victoria for two nights and explored the waterfront, downtown and a morning spent at Butchart Gardens. That afternoon Yoshiko was pampered at the spa nearby the hotel and in the evening we dined at a Japanese tapas restaurant.
On the final day we drove north to Nanaimo and took the ferry back to Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver. We can see the ferries from our condo and it was a chance to see the islands close up.
