Bowen Island
Yoshiko and I arose early today and made a day trip to Bowen Island, the landmass directly north of us across the Strait of Georgia. We drove Merlot over to the north shore and took the ferry across to the island. A pleasant and scenic ferry journey of just twenty minutes. We landed at Snug Cove, which is very appropriately named. A very quiet and tranquil place considering its proximity to bustling Vancouver.
We found a local cafe and had a late breakfast. Interesting to observe how the staff seemed to know all the locals by name. The food and coffee was very good and the ambience relaxing. We walked around the town and harbor, encountering many Canadian geese and their offspring out for walks. For sure we plan to return after the summer tourist rush.
As usual, Yoshiko made a new friend during her visit to Bowen Island.
