e@UBC Mentoring #4
Today was Session #5 and the final class of the Lean Launch Pad for students participating in e@UBC. This was the first time for me to mentor solo and the previous three sessions prepared me for handling it on my own.
My venture during this session was B4, which is developing a smart bung system for winemakers to use in barrels during the aging process. Helping winemakers to understand what is going on inside each barrel, reducing the time and labor involved and freeing up stacking space for barrels.
One of their most important discoveries and strategic pivots was to move away from a "smart bung" and placing the sensors on a reader that attaches to a dumb bung. I wish I could say it was my idea but the students found it on their own.
I don't have all the answers and I enjoy the customer discovery process as much as anyone.
Thanks Artem and Jason.
