Vancouver area hit by wind storm
Yesterday Vancouver and the surrounding area was hit hard by strong winds. The result was cancelled ferry services between Vancouver Island and the mainland, downed trees and power outages by noon. I heard from several friends in the area that they had lost power at home. By some unknown chance, our power stayed on.
This morning I heard from my uncle in Point Grey they spent the night in the dark, huddled around the fireplace. I drove over to their house (which was freezing!) and rescued him. I brought him back to our place for a cup of tea and a warm chair near our fireplace. The power was restored in the area by noon.
