Kitten coming?
Our puppy Tofino is growing up quickly and (thinks) she is the boss of the house. We may have a surprise coming for her soon.
We have been discussing the idea of getting a cat once Tofino is old enough to accept a roommate. Our condo rules were amended recently to allow one dog and one cat in units. Based on discussions with our vet and breeders, we need to avoid introducing an older cat to a younger dog.
For the past few months I have been checking various sources for available kittens, including the local SPCA, online ads (uggh) and some volunteer groups. Older cats are plentiful but assessments of their compatibility with dogs is often uncertain.
Yoshiko has an open mind about the options but admitted her strong desire to have another Burmese cat, similar to our boy, Spago. I contacted a number of Burmese breeders in the region to see if there are available litters. Fingers were crossed... and then came this message.
After several days of back-and-forth emails... and a phone conversation today, we were able to place a deposit on a male blue Burmese. We hope he will come home to us on the Easter Weekend in April. The breeder assured me that Burmese are very good with dogs.
