Back to blood donations
I have been donating blood for years although not during my time living in Japan. That's another story.
A year ago, at the pre-donation check-in, the nurse detected an issue with my hemoglobin and elevated blood pressure. I was declined for the donation and they suggested I consult with our family doctor. He put me on hypertension medication and I frequently monitored my blood pressure. He also recommended I suspend blood donations until things were back to normal.
A few weeks ago I had an appointment with the doctor and my blood pressure is back to normal levels. Today I donated blood for the first time this year. Donation #14 since returning to Canada.
My blood type? AB-.
