Strawberry Fields
Today was my first volunteer shift at the UBC Farm. These shifts are for three hours at a time and I will be doing about two per week, one weekday and one on Saturdays.
This morning the ten of us worked in the strawberry fields where the rows of plants needed a good weeding session after the winter months. Some flowers are out but no berries yet.
Dirty work and a little hard on the back but enjoyable to be outside in the sunshine with nature. Best of all, at the end of each shift, volunteers can take home as much culled produce as we can carry.
