Tofino's experience with fireworks
Tonight is Halloween and it was Tofino that got spooked. This evening there were fireworks very close to our building. Within a block or so. The noise absolutely terrified Tofino. She peed on the floor and ran into the bathroom where she hid, shaking uncontrollably.
We sat with her and tried to console her. But the fireworks continued and her fear escalated. As dogs do when stressed, she started panting.
The noise subsided by midnight and I stayed with her until she was calm enough to lie on her bed. During the night I heard Bacio (our cat) come down from his bed and curl up with Tofino. Unusual since they typically sleep separately.
