Snow in Tokyo

Sometime yesterday afternoon, as forecasted, it started to snow here in Tokyo. And it didn't let up until sometime overnight. We awoke to a winter wonderland with clear blue skies. The expressways in and out of the Tokyo area were closed around dusk so I was glad we had no plans for the day.

At around 8AM I headed out for my morning walk around the neighborhood. The walkways were slippery but I was amazed at the number of people already out clearing the streets. I walked through the neighboring Sugekari Park where many people and families were enjoying the snow and the scenery. Even the elementary school nearby was full of students outside playing in the snow before classes.

The weather warmed throughout the day and helping to reduce the amount of snow and clear the roads. But even tonight some of the expressways were still closed.
